Something is eating my ping. Since I grow indoors in a family room, I doubt that it's something large - I would have noticed. And there's no sign of anything else being eaten. What I did find are webs but no spider mites - and I've seen a lot of spider mites but not in a couple of years. (Are Mexipings even hosts to spider mites?) So maybe a vegetarian spider? I also found these small brown lumps suspended in the webs and more in the moss. I have no idea what they are. Some kind of fruiting bodies? Spider egg clusters? Bug poop? They could also be part of the medium - even if they're all of a size. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks! A moth caterpillar makes sense. I'll have to keep my eyes open for flying badness.

The caterpillar was nocturnal which, I guess, is why I didn't see it before. I stalked it with a flashlight last night and found it munching away. So I thought it might be interesting to create a small terrarium, set it up with some of my more common CPs, buy a night vision app for my iPhone, watch it develop into an adult, and take it to the local university to see if an entomologist could identify the species. And then I thought of an even better Plan B - and flushed it down the toilet.
