Any ideas what is lurking in the shade of my D. adalae?

Looks like an immature D. adelae springing up from the roots.

Any time light hits the roots of D. adelae, new plantlets start forming.

The new plantlets are roundish at first, gradually becoming longer, narrower, and more angular as time goes on.
