Hi everyone,
I posted this on a gardening forum but it's not very active and I didn't really get the answer I was looking for.

I know it's a bit early yet but no harm in planning!
I have a balcony full of mostly young, mostly fruit and mostly seed grown plants.
I'm in zone 7 and in the last 5 years it's ranged from -6 to -16C (21 to 3F)in the coldest part of winter. I plan to leave everything outside for as long as possible and only bring them inside when it gets too cold.
For sure I'll have to bring in the avocados, citruses, chillies, mango, pomegranate etc.
But how do I protect my apple trees, kiwis and strawberries?
I have a completely pitch black basement. Would it be okay to put them there for a month or so in the worst weather or do they need light during dormancy?

Sorry, I don't know about kiwis but I believe apple trees and strawberries both rely on temperature cues for waking up in the spring so if it's not reasonably cold in your basement your probably out of luck.

I don't know the exact temperature in winter there but it's damn cold haha. Of course I'll measure it before I put them there but I think it'll be cold enough.
My main concern is the lack of light, any ideas about that?
