When I first started this hobby, i thought i would need to feed my plants. I learned quickly that supplemental feeding for outdoor plants is completely unnecessary. Everyday I see the silhouette of newly captured bugs in the mouths of my VFT or trying to escape the tube of a sarracenia. I'm really amazed by how effective and prolific they are.
D. filiformis - In terms of the count of bugs captured, this has to be among my top performers. It's cool, but kind of gross looking at this thing. It's covered with fungus gnats and small flies, with more captured daily.
S. Minor var Okefenokeensis - This is my best bug catcher by volume. The traps are ingenious. When sunlight shines through the pitchers, i see so many bugs trying futilely to climb/fly out.
My worst performers are S. purpurea, rosea and catesbaei, though they still manage to self-sustain. I don't seem to get much from my wrigleyana either.
