Several times I have navigated over to the Seed Bank inventory post, considering whether to order a packet of sundew seeds.

But I'm just a few weeks into owning venus flytraps, including seedlings, and still have a lot to do/learn.

And there are too many types of sundews. Seriously, how do you dew-heads keep them all straight?

And I don't really need 100 seeds of one kind only.

So, hypothetically, does anyone on this forum have a fairly diverse stash of drosera seeds AND would be interested in making a sampler pack with a pinch of seeds from different varieties? (Slight preference for smaller low growing varieties over tall long-leaved ones.)

Again, hypothetically, since I will be managing dormancy for my flytraps, I could support sundews that also need dormancy. Or could do a mix of dormant and not, as long as they are separately identified as such.

Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone else interested in growing from a sampler mix (multiple orders might make it worth the effort)?

I have lots of seeds. Not sure by your request if you want them all mixed together? How would you identify each plant? And definitely don't want temperate seeds mixed with tropical and sub tropical sundews. :D

Though you do get 100 seeds of one kind only, not all 100 of them is guaranteed to germinate, which I'm assuming is why there are so many in a packet.

But I feel instead of a mix of seeds, maybe ask for smaller amounts of seeds from a variety of species in this way you can ID them and also when they do flower or multiply you can sell/give them away with confidence of the ID.

And over time, you'll get more familiar with sundew species!

Right, each pinch would need to be in its own paper envelope, so that it gets the correct future care.

Does that sound like too much effort? Perhaps if there were enough buyers, and if the price was right, it would be worth it.

I just know that, as a potential grower, I'm 100% more interested in trying a few of several different varieties than going all in on one kind (or ordering a few types over the months and wasting all that seed).

No yeah that makes sense. When I started I guess I too had this similar mentality in that I wanted to start off with a couple different seeds.

I can't say for certain, since I don't have a large collection of seeds, but I'm sure someone out here may be able to help you out. I do have d. filiformis and d. capensis 'narrow leaf' blooming right now, so in a couple weeks I will have seeds. I can messege you when that time comes.

Officially I'm still deciding if I want to take on sundews. Already I'm starting to neglect my family and dog in favor of flytrap grooming.

But I floated this question because an affirmative would make it much more tempting...

Beware though, as I'm sure other folks here can vouch for me, it all starts with a couple plants. Then before you know it you have Flytraps of many cultivars, sundews starting from seeds of different species each, and looking at pictures of CPs all day, haha.

No no no, I can totally stop at any time. It's just recreational. You know, to take the edge off.

When i first started this hobby a couple months ago, i only intended to buy one of each of the main types of CPs (One pitcher plant, one sundew, one butterwort, etc).

I now have 18 sarracenia, 2 nepenthes, 3 sundew, and counting. With more on the way and several varieties of seeds sewn.

in my opinion seeds from flytrap store it might be better and more worth time to figure out what variety you'd like to grow (google the plants/their conditions) see what you generally gravitate towards for keeping them happy/best for you, and then focus on those species (temperate, tropical, etc)

pick out something you think looks neat, grow those, once you are comfortable growing those types move out to others as they take a long time to grow from seed anyway for the most part
