Hello everyone. I recently divided a couple Pinguicula from my collection. Pinguicula moranensis and Pinguicula emarginata. Both were flowering, P. emarginata quite vigorously. They were both also creating quite a few new rosettes so I figured I should split them up before they start choking one another out. I only expected to get a few new plants but I got MUCH more than I anticipated. One emarginata yielded 9 plants and the moranensis 16! All are acclimated to their new pots and most of the emarginata are still flowering however the moranensis has yet to put up new stalks. Some of each plant are growing on an open shelf under lights, some on a windowsill and the rest back in the enclosure. I really don't need so many of these guys. I wanted to give everyone here a chance at them before resorting to eBay. I know these are pretty common, but these particular divisions are much larger than the original ones I purchased so they should be great for beginners. Like me! haha! Anyhow, here's the plants. I would prefer to trade, but open to purchases as well. I have no idea what to ask, so just make an offer and I'm sure we can work something out.

Sorry, I do not have a picture of all the P. emarginata all potted up together. All the plants are potted in a bit of orchid bark at the bottom for drainage and topped with an all mineral mix developed specifically for Pinguicula by Ron West at Cascade Carnivores. It's a pretty loose mix so I imagine any shipping will be done bare root, roots wrapped in damp LFS along with it's pot and mix if you like or without if you have a mix you prefer. Let me know if you have any questions. Any offer will be considered I'm sure.

Happy growing,
-@.

That first plant is P. ‘Sethos’ not P. moranensis.

Thanks! I had actually pretty much lost the plant shortly after I started growing. Grey, a member here, told me to take a leaf pulling before it's too late. I put it in a bag of moss and forgot about it. A few months later I'm using the moss to pot something up and.... a perfect little tiny Pinguicula mora-setho-nensis fell out. Smaller than a dime. More like a finger nail. This is that plant somewhere between one and two years later.

The leaf shape says either ‘Weser’ or ‘Sethos’ as these both look pretty much the same because they have the same two parent plants. The only way to tell them apart is by the flower. Which in your picture is definitely a P. ‘Sethos’ flower. First picture is my ‘Sethos’, second is my moranensis.

Hmm. Perhaps. I don't think it looks like either one of those. There are many variations of P. moranensis though. I distinctly remember the Cascade Carnivores tag said Pinguicula moranensis A when I got it, but I suppose that could be a mistake. Hey, I got an idea! How about I send you one of mine and you send me one of yours and we compare them once they flower?!

Here is the bloom from my Sethos first and moranensis second. The moranensis is from Vera Paz so it is a bit of a different flower from other moranensis. Sethos has moranensis as one parent so they can look pretty similar to moranensis. But I may be wrong about yours. Just my thoughts though.

I already have both of those species. I just sold about 50 or more Pings a couple of weeks ago. Pretty much wiped out all my extras. I did just take a whole bunch of leaf pulls from about 15 species so I’ll have lots to trade in a few months. I’ll keep you in mind. Do you have any other ping species?

Hahaha, I figured as much. Not at the moment, just these two. I've only been growing a couple years. I've been focusing more on cephs and neps for most of that time and helis more lately. These are some of the first plants I got.

But let me know when your leaf pulls are ready please. Maybe we can work something out and I can get a couple more pings.

Happy growing,
