I have three ant plants I grew from seed. I was wondering if anyone elts grew these and what media you use and how you pot them. They are all fairly small but in the same pot and I would like to separate them.

Not personally, but I used to work at a greenhouse for 3 years and they had two of them. One planted in LFS and one in peat and perlite (standard pre-mixed bag of it from the nursery). They sat next to the mist bench and got watered daily. I didn't really see a big difference in growth between them.

Bonjour

have you a picture ?
what specie?

I grow all my ant plant according to the species in 3 kinds of media:

- pure blond peat in pot in a terra
- sphagnum in pot in a terra or directly in terra
- on a cork oak bark as some orchids epiphyte in terra

attention to the watering , rot risk

Bonjour

it is a rubiacae may be a hydnophytum

for me try the 3 substrats

leave the biggest and the most advanced in his pot,you do not touch it

for the others does the tests
- one in pure sphagnum
- the other on a bark of cork with between him and the bark , sphagnum

but you do what you want, you can leave the 3 in the same pot.

Here is what I came up with.

Strate LFS in hanging pot.

LFS with some small stone mixed in for drainage

Peat with turfis mixin and a top dressing of small stone to keep algae and hold in water a little.

Let me know what you think.

Bonjour

for me it is OK .

your pots are holed, I guess.

still very careful with the watering ,especially with the one who has peat, I always advocate between each watering a dry period.

something else 'ex situ' to compensate for the loss of nitrogen substance provided by the ant, use a fertilizer (NPK style: 23-5-5 for me but you can also use a N less strong but still has 2 digits),always between 2 fertilization watering with clear water

let us know about your tests ;)

Thanks for the help. There’s not much information on the net on them.
