No, it's definitely the case. Placing a cultivar label on a plant of unknown origin is a very poor practice. If you want, you can make up your own name for it.

thirding what was said.

having similar traits and qualities to known labeled cultivars is different than "I think this one is a jaws"

being typicals is not a bad thing as every fly trap in existence is just a typical that had variation that someone thought was unique enough to clone (naturally or not), and end up registering as a unique genetically identical cultivar. (or one in a series of selectively cross-pollinated cultivars)

at the end of the day they are all typicals, but they are not all cultivars even if they LOOK to be identical to any other plant. you have no way of knowing one way or the other if the genetics are the same as the cultivar you might think it looks like.

ahh man. I get where you three are coming from but I'm not here to sell them falsely or advertise them falsely. Just wanted to share my excitement for them as I was expecting nothing but typical looking traps. I very well understand that flytraps of unknown origins should be labeled as typicals for the sake of good practice. I feel like I offended.

no offense taken on my end or anything it just becomes a tricky thing where others will read it and then assume that because plant A looks like plant B they can go by what it looks like also, there is a lot of misinformation to sort through learning about this stuff anyway I take a firm approach to explaining it when I need to haha.

technically even if every one of those was a named cultivar that got shipped, even knowing you couldn't call the plant that anyway, the named cultivar is just simply a typical that had special looks to it, you can describe the special looks all day on typicals -- the named cultivar of it is pretty irrelevant unless you are comparing its growing habits to another known cultivar for describing ya know?

I'm glad you ended up getting a decent looking variety there too I watched the quick video earlier, looks like a fun box!
