I've been thinking of adding some sundews to my collection, and the one that has really caught my eye was drosera Capensis. I read that they grow like crazy, and can tolerate temps from 45-90 Fahrenheit. The only drawback is that they grow a little too well. I've seen pictures of these plants growing new leaves from their roots, and just cluster together. Would people that own a drosera Capensis be able to tell me if these are a plant worth having?

This shouldn't even be a question. Everybody needs some Capensis in their life

Absolutely. They come in a lot of lovely varieties, even the typicals are nice, and they are excellent at eating gnats and fruit flies. Put one in your kitchen for a few hours, no more fruit flies.

Also, they don't mind being crowded, since they're carnivorous plants that don't compete with each other for nutrients from the soil. It won't hurt them if they eventually fill up the pot.

Yeah, get some for sure if you like sun dews. They look really cool when they're very dewy. Just as long as you're prepared to pluck them out of pots where they don't belong. I hardly ever do cause I feel bad but they do end up crowding out my venus flytraps (for light) if I leave them close together.

Gorgeous pictures!
They make me want to run out and order another one right this second!
Any day now, I'll be planting those "All Red" seeds I got from you.

Good growing,
Mike

Frothy_Milk, dont you want to join our "capensis club"? Lol
...they are fantastic plants!
They will overtake surrounding pots. Just pluck em out, sell them or donate them, or just give them to those new to the hobby!
