It completely depends on the plant. To my knowledge almost any plant can be grown on one of three types of media:
* Murashige and Skoog
* Knudson C
* Woody Plant
Depending on what kind of plant you want to TC, you'll have to research what kind of media is best.

do you need a pressure cooker with a gauge, where would be a cheap place to buy one with a gauge?

I wondered the same thing when I started. No, you don't need one with a gauge. Almost all pressure cookers are set to reach and maintain a pressure of 15 PSI, which is what you want when sterilizing media.

Be Patient hehe. Seriously, there will be tons of questions when you actually start on your TC and not all get the results that everyone else gets. You will develop your own technique as you progress. Like me, I skipped PH testing and scaling. I already created my own method to make things faster to make. I just started using plain Jello instead of agar. Much cheaper but gives you the same result. That's just me.

So instead of agar you use gelatin, pectin or jello?

Jello man....That's what I used in the first place when I was just starting. The sole purpose of Agar is for cell suspension which Jellos do.
