I know there are tons of threads on spag however I can't seem to find what I'm looking for so here goes. So I purchased what is supposed to be LFS moss. I got a gallon bag of it. Not there r the green growth tips and the bottom tanish color. What is the best way to plant this in my nep pots? Right now the medium is orchid bark spag and peat with a bunch of orchid bark on the top for aesthetics. How do I plant it? Do I bury part of it in the medium or lay it on top? How do I keep it wet enough? Just mist it and normal nep watering of once every 2-3 days? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks

It looks like we're in the same boat I just received my shipment of moss that I purchased online today and this is how it turned out I put it into one of those disposable aluminum food containers with the clear plastic lid for humidity and I made a 1/2 bed of peat before I laid the moss over it and sprayed generously with distilled water this is my first attempt so I would also appreciate some advice Image

I used one of those trays for a germination attempt and for some reason the bottom rotted out. I thought with it being aluminum it would hold up, but it did not. I have since started buying black plastic trays from the hardware store. They seem to be holding up much better than the aluminum pans.

This is just my experience with them, so take it for what you will.

No problem, that's what most of us are here for. To help others. This is what I started using after that fiasco.

To contribute to the OP, I just cut the little spores off, and scatter them on a bed of Lee Mosser LFSM. I finally found a good use for that garbage LFSM.

Brad's greenhouse on YouTube has a good video where you can see him cut off the active growing "heads" of sphagnum moss and deposit them into the dead sphagnum of the nepenthes he is repotting. That might be a good reference if you want to see how it's done.
