Getting an utricularia graminifolia soon. Just a question:

Do the traps need to be submerged for it to work? Since it operates based on pressure.

Many Utricularia are terrestrial plants and at least one even grows its bladder traps above the soil surface. I believe this species can be grown submerged or partially submerged, but it is not necessary. In my experience, Utricularia have a habit of growing traps out into your water tray no matter what you do, so take care that it doesn't take over other pots...

My Sandersonii is growing some traps above the soil. It's pretty cool to see...

When all the trees have been cut down,

Havent growen that particular species but it should grow well just kept wet.

Oh. I guess I'm going to pot them up into 50/50 peat/perlite mix.

Can they capture any prey without being submerged in water?
