So, I bought a cobra lily from Man eating plants. But it seems to be in some kind of decline, right now. When I first got it in, it looked great. No questions asked. Its soil mix is sphagnum peat moss(Phil from the MEP site, stated the biggest traps grow in 100% peat). It's potted & all. Nutrient free soil, water, plenty of sunlight & its being kept dry-damp - moist. I flush it with ice cubes, each day. To make sure the roots stay cool. I know its dormancy starts, around October.

I've lost an Alata, excella & purple pitcher plant before this, to whatever is causing this problem. I believe it is mealy bugs or scale. I see white specs, all over the base of the cobra lily. I might try the garden safe spray, but I've tried before with no luck. Well, hopefully someone can help me with this issue. Have a great day, everyone!

Pictures help the most. I got a couple from Phil almost a month ago, and they are just starting to put out a big flush of new growth.

I've heard they hate being moved and take time to adjust, I'm about to get an older division from him to grow on my deck.

If you have pests please post pictures so these people can help you. I'm sure Phil could as well, seems to be quite the expert.

Hello, here are some pictures. I will take more, if they're not good enough. Kind of in a rush to do things. I notice white webbing. I feel its mealybug, eating away at it. Not sure how much garden safe(3 in 1), to spray on it. I know there's a special way to apply it(Dilution & all). Well, thanks for the responses, have a wonderful day, all!

Webbing? Might be spider mite.

Alright, so I sprayed it down with garden safe(3 in 1). I used 1/8 - 1/4 tablespoon, of the solution & mixed it with one cup of water. Sprayed it down, quite well. Did the same with my tropical pitcher(Mold, rust spots, etc). Hopefully, once is enough. If not, I'll keep spraying it down, until those buggers are gone. I'll post pictures tomorrow, thanks again for the help everyone!

You might want to try orthene, or figure out what exactly the pest is and treat it accordingly rather than dousing your plant in chemicals that may not be doing any good. If you see really fine webbing on the plant and little mite things crawling across them then it's spider mites. If you see cottony stuff it's mealybugs. Mealybugs can be easier to spot, if it was sent bare root you probably would've noticed them. If you really need to check they may be hiding in the roots of the plant.
For spider mites I'd order a miticide from FTS under pest control. If it's mealybugs try finding an insecticide with imidacloprid as the active ingredient. Anything else orthene works well. All 3 are safe for carnivorous plants.
On the other hand the plant can just be undergoing shock and just needs time to adjust. In that case just give it tlc and it should be fine

Hahahaha I spend all my money on plants

Well, I sprayed the plants with the garden safe 3 in 1 spray. It worked for the most part it seems. The white webbing, on the soil is gone & the whitish stuff is fading. Thanks for the suggestions, for pesticides. I feel, the more natural ones, you order online are probably much better. But, I'd like to use this stuff up.

Phil's plants are awesome & I'm not insulting him or them or anything like that. Even in my post, I made in ps3isawesomes thread. When they came in, they looked fantastic & well taken care of. I potted the plant in peat, while it was already wrapped in peat(Not sure if that would count as actually re-potting the plant as a whole but it probably does). It's the pests that dwell in my house, that like to devour plants, the moment they see them.

I sprayed a few of my other plants with the solution & doused the rest of it on this soil mix, I'm flushing, to use with my future grows. Just in case a few of those pests are hiding out in there, waiting for the moment to spread to my other plants. I am happy that it is seemingly working for the most part.

I hope they flourish & everyone's plants does as well. Maybe I can grow them a couple feet tall this upcoming year, when they come out of winter dormancy. Have a good day, all!

Well, I feel, that I'm doing my best at keeping this cobra lily alive & all. It seems to be withering to me, but they say its dormancy starts somewhere in October. Here's a pic, to see it now currently. I hope it's not root rot, which destroyed my last carnivorous plants. I don't keep it too wet, just dry damp - moist. The small pitchers look purplish-red. I'll keep giving it the best treatment, I can. Have a wonderful day, all!

Are you growing it indoors? From what I understand, dars will not do well indoors, especially these ones as they are grown in really extreme weather outside.

Although, I suppose you could buy some indoor lights to try as supplements.

It looks about as dead as can be. Cobra lilies like to be wet and constantly watered, they grow near streams so small water pumps seem to do a good job.
