well, its silica sand, and silica sand IS suggested. Im sure it will be fine, but if you are worried, you could soak the sand when it arrive, and measure the water's TDS

You definitely have to wash it a few times until the PPM comes down to 50 or less.

Yeah, any sand should be washed first. Where I picked up my Quikcrete, bags of lime were on the shelf above. Even if the product itself is okay, you don't know where it's been.

I use Quickrete with all my temperate carnivores with no issues. Just make sure you wash it thoroughly though, some localities might have excessive amounts of mineral buildup in there. In addition, the company probably washes the sand with hard water, since it's cheaper and isn't designed to appeal to a niche community like ours.
