A few of the sarrs in my mini bog have very irregular growth. They are growing wavy and the pitchers are flat. I looked for bugs. Most of the rest are fine. What if anything can be done?

which sarracenia are they? rubra do tend to have wavy pitchers early season, but aphids are probably your problem, they attack the very young green growth and this distorts the subsequent growth, they look a little spindly, how much sun do they get?

I've noticed that some newly acquired sarracenia grow wonky for a bit until they can get settled down. I wouldn't worry too much unless you notice it spreading. You could always spray with neem oil if you're really worried though

Thanks everyone...this is my first time growing pitchers. I bought them all in winter while they were dormant. We had a very cold spring and they didn't even start showing growth until about 3 weeks ago.. I built the bog and they are growing okay just not as robust and vigorous as I hoped. Many similar symptoms as posted above with short flower stems that didn't bloom. I really don't think that it is bugs.

Oh yea, just give them as much light and heat as possible and they'll take off. Particularly S. minor, my S. minor var. okefenokeensis actually went somewhat dormant after putting up a few pitchers due to the cold. Now that the heat has cranked up its doing great. Most cp's are wayyyy tougher than we give them credit for

If they are new and repotted and their first season out, then you may be seeing some signs of stress, this can also cause your flowering problem. All this will pass, give them as much light and heat as possible and they will soon reward you with a new flush of robust and colourful pitchers
