I was just wondering if water that drips from the air conditioner would be safe to use? Does any one know? I know i need a TDS meter.

You answered the question yourself In theory, it should be safe to use, but I wouldn't use it without testing it first with a TDS meter.

I think it's safe if you are not using any pesticide in your air conditioner room.

when i run out of my rain water, i'll use air conditioner water too.

The quality of this water is essentially the same as distilled water; mineral free and a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level of near zero. The water should NEVER be used for human consumption as it may contain heavy metals from contact with the cooling coils and other HVAC equipment. The lack of minerals in the water (similar to distilled water) also makes it corrosive to most metals, especially steel and iron.

The water’s low-mineral quality and lack of sanitizers (chlorine, chloromine, etc.) makes it excellent for the purposes of irrigation. In the residential sector, this water should be used similar to harvested rainwater; irrigation for plants not intended for human consumption. Although condensate water does not have the health risk of containing biological pollutants commonly found in rainwater (bird feces), there is a slight risk of lead contamination (from solder joints in the evaporative coils) building up to dangerous levels in soil continually irrigated with the water.

I have tested my rainwater about 2 weeks ago with a TDS meter bought ooff amazon.com. I forgot to post what the tds of the air conditioner water is. It read 67ppm. Good thing i tested it before using it.
Though the rain that runs off my roof is only 13ppm,but boy does it have a funny smell to iot. This roof water will bo good to use, correct?
y wail water is 47ppm, lol and my water from the sink faucet is 167ppm.

Rain water has a weird smell and look to it because of the bacteria and other microorganisms that reside in it. This has little effect on the flytraps but it can harm humans so don't drink it!

Thanks pieguy. I hope i never get that thirsty. If i did,i have lots of it,like maybe 150 2 liters fuil of rain water. Wouldnt be going thirsty for a while.

Wow. Thats an old thread. I mainly use air con condensation water. My ppm shows less than 10. the only time. I dont use it is when i have my unit service with chemical wash.

this is the most inventive solution to rainwater I've heard. I usually just buy 4$ worth of water from the store. last 2-3 months usually
