I just yanked off a leaf from a dormant VFT. Didn't get much of the rhizome. I've planted the trap separately. This is probably one of the worst times to be taking a pulling. Lets see what happens!

Hey Pat,
I've had luck taking them at any time of the year. I just repotted a few plants in October and when I did, I pulled off a few of the leaves that looked the worst. I took off all the dead stuff and put the whitest parts of the rhizome in some sphagnum moss. I just noticed some new growth on the pullings last week!

I think the best time to do it is whenever you regularly repot your plants. For most people this is in the spring time.

Hi Everyone,

I just did a leaf pulling this week of 'Clayton's Red Sunset'.

I wrapped two pullings from 'Clayton's Red Sunset' in 100% Long Fiber Sphagnum Moss and then placed them next to the mother plant. This way if they strike, I will know which Dionaea it is.
I plan to keep the LFSM wet and hope the pullings strike!
