I use 660nm red and 450nm blue mixed in 4:1 ratio totaling 55W. It is about 6 inches away from the plant.

The biggest trap on this plant is now 2.1cm=0.86inch.
Looks like it becomes 10% larger every 15 days.

I put it outside in the sun for two days. It has produced one malformed trap. The rest of traps look less fresh also.
I changed the light to 25W HALO from http://www.supergrowled.com. Looking forward to the performance of this light system.

If it divides and you grow it, I will be more than happy.
I am not a good grower like you and I am afraid I can kill it one day.

The largest trap is about 2.4cm now. About 5% smaller than an inch.
Traps that were about average sized last month now look so small.
Feeding two spiders actually boosted the trap size. After that, the new trap sizes look as if they are saturating to a the largest one.

I can't believe that is just a little over a year old. That's going to be a beast!

I really need to expand my flytrap collection. Just looking at those photos makes my heart beat faster. I will try do propagate some seedlings next year, and in the meantime stay glued to this thread. :)

Since my last update, I think my A2 x DC XL was dormant for few months. New leaves were very red and the size did not get any bigger.
Last month, I found some small flying insects everyday even though I kill of them. I decided to repot my plant.
Maybe it is because of the repotting, it seems to be out of dormancy for the moment.
The largest trap in measuring exactly an inch. It is the green leave that has just completed developing its cilia and it is opening.

Considering that this plant is only a year and 4 months old, it is quite big. An average giant flytrap of this age will be the same size as the new small growth point you see in the picture or even smaller.

For those of you who don't know, I grow my plants indoors so there is no chance that it is fed naturally.
I am hoping that I could grow it naturally like other growers. The plant will reach its full potential by natural dormancy and feeding.
I am living in northern Pennsylvania and cannot grow it outside but I will try with the new division in the near future. For now I am just too afraid I will kill it if I don't be careful.
