Wow that looks beautiful! Im thinking of getting one of these cupped traps as my second VFT (After I get my first one of course ;P)

I specially love the pink teeth, and the low lying traps almost look like pitfalls due to their shape :)

Get both at the same time and save on shipping!

BTW, what is the first cultivar you are thinking of getting?
Sadly I can't afford to buy more than 1 right now, so I won't be able to get those shipping reductions. (Did you know the CaliforniaCarnivores charges 15$ shipping for a bag of soil? the soil itself only costs 2.35!)

The cultivator Im going to buy is the Slim Snapper, I am in love with how tall and slender the "stocks" are that the traps are on. Its similar to a Korean Melody Shark except vigorous and actually has functional traps.

That's an interesting looking plant!

Soil is heavy so it'll be expensive to ship. Consider mixing your own soil. You can probably find a local place that sells 50 pound bags of silica sand for $5. Your local nursery will have packs of sphagnum peat for pretty cheap.

If you have a Lowes nearby, they carry this brand: http://www.lowes.com/pd_322730-10799-13 ... facetInfo=

I use it, when I'm not using LFSM. Pretty good stuff, and 1 of these will fill a LOT of pots! :)

Sashoke,

That's good advice from kcbugs.

Fertilizer in peat: Just double check the packaging and ingredient list. Miracle-Gro Sphagnum Peat Moss contains fertilizer, but it does say right on the front of package that it is "enriched" and contains "plant food." So watch for keywords that indicate fertilizer.

LFSM: Another good medium. The FlyTrapStore sells it $9.95 free shipping.

Perlite: Tons of folks have great success using perlite in their mixes. I personally don't use it. I just don't like the way it separates and floats to the surface (when top watering) if I don't keep a top layer of moss to keep everything contained.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, all the Lowes near me only sell Miracle Grow Perlite, however, I've been buying "Black Gold" brand from a local nursery (it's also sold at a lot of hardware stores): http://www.acehardware.com/product/inde ... a_14560885

I've also bought Hoffman from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Hoffman-16504-Hor ... ds=perlite

Both are good. I prefer the Black Gold brand as it's a smaller grain. Like Alvin 415 said, it floats. Not too big of a deal when you first pot it up, but after a rain storm, there's usually a little clean-up required.

Hopefully my Lowes will carry the Blackgold stuff, if not maybe my Homedepot will.

Thanks for the responses guys :)
