Hi everyone,
A weird thought crossed me. Why will people name a plant y x y. What I mean is, for example, Nepenthes Alata x Alata. Is that not just nepenthes Alata? Why must they add the other Alata parent. Is this just a seed grown thing? Also, what's the difference between (if there is one), for example, Nepenthes Sanguinea x Khasiana and Nepenthes Khasiana x Sanguinea?
Weird question, but still thanks,

It gives an exact species description and the flip flop between the two names distinguishes between male and female plants

Which order is it? Is male listed first or second?

Labeling ?? x ?? gives an idea of the plant's parent species. Female parent first.
For parents of the same species, it only makes sense to label it that way when additional descriptions are given, like the color/shape or locality of each parent with significant variations.
