Hi all, I have noticed that I can get this MURASHIGE & SKOOG MODIFIED BASAL SALT MIXTURE W/OUT N
which is without nitrogen which I believe Neps dont like. Am I right in thinking this would be an excellent medium to use? and would it be ok for all CP's?

N is the main nutrient for plant and without it plant cannot grow up. Neps may required less N than other plants (?) but it should be in the media. We grow many Neps with 1/3 MS without any problem.

Ok thanks, are you using 1/3 MS and full vitamins? As i am using MS with vitamins at 1/3 strength and am just wondering if everyone runs plain MS but with the full vitamins and if so how is this acheived.

Thanks in advance :)

Try full amount of vitamins and micro-nutrients if you can. Use 1/3 MS with vitamin and 2/3 vitamins (or 1/3 MS - no vitamin with full vitamins); 1/3 MS with 2/3 micro-nutrients. Some articles said it's better so I try but I don't see much different; anyway it gives you more confident.

Today, most people use Gamborg vitamins for plant tissue culture. Let take a look at the formula:
Thiamine (Vitamin B1) --------- 10.0 mg/liter
Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6)-------- 1.0 mg/liter
Nicotinic acid (Niacin) --------- 1.0 mg/liter
Myo-inositol --------------------- 100 mg/liter

Vitamin B1 is the most important for plant cells. You can buy Gamborg vitamins at Phytotech, Sigmaaldrich, and Caison. You can make yourself 100ml 100X vitamin solution:
• Dissolve 1 Nature Made super B complex (B1 100mg, B6 2mg, niacin 25 mg) in 100 ml distilled water. Each 1 ml has 1 mg vitamin B1, Use 10 ml for 1liter media you have 10mg/liter B1 + B6 and Niacin which is almost the same with Gamborg.
