To add onto Zombie's mention about bubble wrap.
If you have any small business owned card/gift shops around you, sometimes they have an over abundance of bubble wrap since they save them from old boxes or from shipping and reuse them to wrap items when people buy them. You can ask them if they have any to spare.
Also dollar stores are great sometimes for bubble wrap.
