Actually all the windows are south east and west, north goes into my house :D
And usually outside temperature as it has no insulation so right now... 48°F

There should still be a good amount of direct sunlight going through there, even without a transparent roof. Perhaps not when the sun is at its highest point for the day, but during the morning and the afternoon that place should get direct sunlight :)
