The first time I fed him, it was fine: the trap closed and opened up again a few days later.
Now, this is the second time feeding him: I put the bug in the trap and it closes. But about 12 hours later the trap reopens and the bug does not appear to be eaten. I tried everything: new bugs, different traps.
Why isnt my venus fly trap eating?
How can I get him to eat?
Thanks1

Dead insects won't work. Have a read of this.

Take into account that prey need to move to stimulate the trap to close properly.

You can slightly "Massage" the trap between your finger and thumb to stimulate it, and that may make it seal on dead insects.

You will need to gently massage the closed trap for a few minutes. If it closes on a dead, unmoving insect the trap will act like it caught nothing and open again.

Beat me to it, Daniel,

If the insect does not move inside the trap, the trap will assume the bug escaped and won't try to digest it. You can avoid this by gently squeezing the trap between your fingers after it has closed to continue to trigger the trigger hairs.
