In the below thread, I'm new to CPs in general. I just got these plants 2 or 3 weeks ago. If someone would look at the pics of the sundew, I'd be grateful. Should I split it up? Is it multiple plants? I'm thinking it looks like 15 - 20 separate little plants all bunched together in a domed snow cone like shape. If I should split them up, when? Wait until spring?

I still am not sure if what I have is one plant or several.

It is several plants, sundews are pretty tolerant and easy to divide with minimal stress.

As already said, they are several plants. Try not to rip any roots and they should recover within a week or so.

I recently bought a aliciae which were actually 6 plants!

what i did is:
Remove soil from pot,
carefully take most of the soil from the roots,
keep the left soil and roots under a running tap,
As soon as the roots are bare, rinse a few times with RO water,

Then i looked how manny plants i had, carefully untangle the roots, and plant them in new medium, the dew disappeared for 3-4 days, and then came back, and they still seem healthy=]

And for doing it or not?
If u can provide good circumstances and care, why wait?

This plant looks fresh out of TC.
It may even still have some callus tissue on it.

I would be prepared with lots of medium, a razor, and distilled water, to keep the plants and roots moist while dividing.

Even if the whole mess has one root, each little plant will grow one.
I would also try leaf cuttings to get some seperate plants.

So you mean have pre-damped medium and planters for them ready to go? Basically, split and plant as I go? If its one root, try and carve out a little root for each plant with a razor blade?

Also, is it alright to wait a couple or few weeks?

Yes, it is ok to wait and it is ok to divide and plant as you go.
Keep the plant in distilled water when you aren't dividing it, so it will stay alive.
Don't try to carve out a root for each plant.
Most will root without a plant.
It is perfectly fine to wait a while before doing this.
I suggest trying to pull it apart with your hand, then if some are really stuck together, use a razor.

Finally split my sundew! I ended up with 43 separate ones. I had to use some small cups I had to get them all repotted! No razor needed, but it did take a while, lots of patience, and I used a bowl of water to rinse them in to help clear out the old soil while splitting.
