I wanted to plant VFT seeds, my first thought was to get them from eBay and I bought some mixed seeds without thinking. Later I found out I'm gonna have a hard time identifying them. I've read a lot on this site on almost everything about vft and I am sure I can handle the basic of bringing them up from seeds to adult. Now the problem is these mixed seeds, am I gonna plant them together or individual ones in each pot ? My next problem would be identifying them.

After i realized this mistake. I went ahead to buy another batch of Royal red and Saw tooth. That should be safe from these unidentified group.

What I've done in these situations is just plant them and see where it goes  (it's not to hard to identify the plants as they mature) Hope this helps ;)

All seed grown VFT are typicals.

read this:

Hope it helps
Ginsburg,

Thanks for pointing out that all fly trap are the same. Now i know the only difference are the traits... I'm not sure if i should be sad or happy over the Royal Red and Saw tooth seeds which I had bought hoping I'll get the same traits from it. But after reading the articles, there is a higher chance the same traits will appear right ?

I took out 3 seeds for my first test to see if something will happen using the "Water Germination" method.

Boy These seeds are small

You'll only find that out once they have grown a bit.

Hope you come up with some interesting ones! :)

Happy growing!

3 months and you should see something like this. I just dropped the seeds in wet peat and mist daily and leave the dome on my tray at all times.

More like a month...

That is pretty long! Actually I was lucky, some already germinated in 5-7 days for me. They were harvest this year, probably a few months ago as ThomasL stated

You should see drosera seeds!!!

Good luck!
I did have a comparison , i agree they are much thinner but with the protecting shell, it was almost as long as VFT seeds hehe

My follow up thread, sorry for the confusion.

Wow, great set og VFT you have there, and i was hoping they would be much larger at 3 months. Man! they are still so tiny n cute. hehe I really like your healthy bunch. My has started popping something out of the tip and i'm going to transfer them to cups later when I start seeing leaves. Thans for your great advise 44_Sphagnum!
