I have cut the flower stalk off of my VFT & planted it after discovering that this was possible on this site, what I would like to know is (as I live in South Africa & the average temperature here at the moment is about 25 degrees c) should I give the flower stalk as much direct exposure to sunlight, & water it as regularly as my plant ? I have looked through the site & don't seem to be able to find any information on care for the flower stalk after planting it, pls advise or direct me to this info if I have missed it.

I'm not sure about sunlight, but I do know that you should keep the moisture level above normal for the stalk. This is why it is advised to have the stalk cutting in a separate container than the VFT. The conditions for growing it will be slightly different.

I did mine under flourescents, keeping the medium moist, in fact kept a plastic cup over the top at least half of the time. Here is a good thread on here that helped me: http://www.flytrapcare.com/phpBB3/my-fl ... er%20stalk ......That thread, in fact, inspired me to start this thread: http://www.flytrapcare.com/phpBB3/flowe ... 16518.html ........Hope this helps!

For me, I just insert the cut flower stalk into the soil (50/50 of sphagnum peat + pool filter sand) and keep the stalk cutting close to the parent plant (mainly, so I will know which cultivar it is). I have kept them in the same conditions as the parent plant outside (maybe I'm lucky to be in NC?) . I posted some photos here:

If you look closely, you can see the remnants of the flower stalk.

Hope that helps,
