This sale is for UK residents only.
I have a small handful of young Mexican Pinguicula that I’m looking to sell; these are ideal plants to start with if you are new to Pinguicula and each has its own distinct appearance. The plants I have on offer are P. cyclosecta, P. esseriana and P. ‘Weser’ (P. ehlersiae x P. moranensis); as mentioned they are young plants (averaging 2cm across) with plenty of growing to do. Their appearances will differ slightly to those grown outside due to the light filtering typically offered by glazed windows, all of my Mexican Pinguicula are kept on my windowsill.
Here are a few photos of the plants I'm offering with a size comparison of my little finger:
P. cyclosecta is an odd looking species with leaf growth that can change throughout the year, not only during winter. It stays relatively small when fully grown and is the first to change to its winter growth state, sometimes starting its transformation as early as September. In the photos you can see that this process has already begun, this will not affect shipping. SOLD OUT
P. esseriana is a small species of Pinguicula, the plants in the photo above are near full-size. They divide and flower readily in the spring and with enough sunlight (usually courtesy of artificial lighting or sun outdoors) can change hues to a beautiful pink. If kept on a windowsill these plants will usually retain their pale green leaves with white rims although some can look almost white. SOLD
P. 'Weser' is a hybrid Mexican Pinguicula born of P. ehlersiae and P. moranensis; it can grow into quite the monster plant (although not as big as the larger Pinguicula species such as P. gigantea and some other moranensis hybrids) and is very fond of developing a gentle pink hue to its leaves, even when kept on a windowsill. Under full sun or artificial lighting this pink can intensify and devour the whole plant. I have 3 for sale.
Plants cost £1 each plus a single charge of £1.50 postage per order; plants will be shipped bare root and shipping will start on Monday. I accept payment via PayPal.
I also have a large amount of Extatosoma tiaratum (aka the "Macleay's Spectre" or "giant spiny leaf insect") eggs for sale. Each tube (containing 10 eggs) costs £1.25, if ordered with Pinguicula postage is increased once (no matter how many tubes you buy) by 50p, if buying eggs separately there is a one-time postage cost of £1. If you're interested please make sure you do some research into the care of the species (though this care is very simple). The eggs are the result of an unrelated pair breeding so they are not parthenogenic, they should start hatching in January/February. Feel free to PM me with any questions you have about these animals and I'll do my best to respond.
Please send me a private message if you are interested, we can then discuss payment and shipping. Thank you!
