I have never done that before.. good luck with the rest of the seeds..

Mine seems to be growing with closed leaves in direct sunlight... maybe I should be growing it indoors...

Wow, these guys have quite the root systems and mine got root-bound pretty quick. I'll be repotting tomorrow.

I grow mimosa seeds by soaking them in very hot water for about half a day to 2 days.At least until the seed starts to swell. Then sow them and a lot of them will germinate.

Repotted today into a much bigger container. Used some really high quality indoor plant potting mix. We'll see how it does..

Oh, I love that plant. At the family nursery, I remember my aunt show me that plant, I was as amazed as when I first saw when they got venus flytraps. Now they dont get mimosa that much, it was like a one time thing. I'll ask to try and order one. I was just wondering Adam, do you think that the branches can make for a cutting? They probably would. Maybe if I get one one day, I can take lots of cuttings and resell them at the nursery

It's considered a weed where it grows natively. So I'm guessing it would be easy to grow from cuttings.

I'm going to put this plant in yet another bigger pot.. See how large I can get it to grow :D

We have two Mimose Trees in our front yard. We planted them there because hummingbirds are so attracted to them. We keep hummingbird feeders up year round. They slow down in the winter but I always seem to have at least a couple at any given time. This time of year they are everywhere & having trees they like in addition to the feeders is fun.

Wow.. You're lucky to live in a climate that can sustain a mimosa!

How many different types of Mimosa are there anyways?

I did not even realize that the leaves folded up at night until I started reading this thread & then checked out our trees. I really need to get out more at night, literally.
