One of my traps on my Venus fly trap plant might be dead. Flys enter it's mouth and it doesn't close. I've gently tried to make it close, moving it's hairs on the inside but nothing. The thing I don't understand is that the trap is NOT black at all. Why isn't it closing when it's looks healthy?

Not enough energy. When I fed one of my flytraps that I had just recieved, it took alot longer for it to close at all. It'll eventually close. If the the trap has been triggered times before, the trap will die off but new traps will sprout to take its place. So, give it some time and good care.

Sometimes the traps of Venus Flytraps become insensitive, either temporarily or permanently, for many reasons including age, sun burn (of the trigger hairs) or chemical burn (if you don't use pure water but use tap water instead, for example).

It's nothing to worry about. So long as you are giving your plant good care (right here's a great place to find out how) and the new growth looks good, the plant is fine. :)
