Hi,

Yesterday when I was moving my VFT one of the older traps closed over a younger trap that was growing right on top of it. I figured it would re-open in 12 hours seeing as it's obviously not a tasty fly, but this morning it was closed even tighter! Stupid me tried to pry the trap open to save the younger trap from digestion but that made the trap close really really tight, so I've made it worse :( Has anyone had this happen before? It doesn't make sense for the plant to be digesting itself though, kinda counter productive no??

May I ask how many hours of direct sunlight it gets a day?
Usually, the minimum is 6 hours of direct sun for a healthy plant.
Id say the light is ok, those are some great coloured traps, and the petioles dont seem overlong.

I wouldn't .... :?
It is a fairly new plant and she got it from homebase which means that the intense red colouration was already there when she got it. The reason I said it might need more light is because the new traps growing from the centre looks paler than the ones already opened.

I'm just curious to know if its getting enough sunlight or not. :)

Yeah it might not be getting as much light as it should actually. I have it on a window sill that is facing South East in the morning and I usually move it to the sitting room window sill in the evening to get more light (North West facing window I think??). It's throwing up sooo many new traps it's just not funny, they seem to start off pretty light in colour and eventually get that red tint, but I don't doubt that a South facing window would be better :(

What kind of VFT is that by the way? It looks great!
It is awesome isn't it?! Turns out the little trap didn't get digested though. After a few days of being shut really tight the bigger trap has started to open and the baby trap looks healthy :)
