Yep, they can live forever. But old VFTs don't look any different than young VFTs. Quite a few of the named clones are getting near (or over) 10 years old now, including Akai Ryu and Dentate Traps.

Theoretically if nothing kills them (unfavorable conditions or other damage) they will continue living. However, I wouldn't be surprised if over enough time, UV or other factors would cause irreparable DNA damage or mutations that the plant couldn't survive.

The scientific theory I like best is that the rings of Saturn are composed entirely of lost airline luggage
