I read in the vft section that letting a venus flytrap flower will drain a lot of energy from the plant but what about some of the other species of carnivoires - the pings and sundews? Is there a similar drain of energy or is it okay to let them flower?

As long as your plants are kept in the right conditions (and with enough sunlight and water) they should be okay to flower. I've had over 50 flower stalks this growing season (more on the way) and have noticed little change to my pinguicula; my drosera do slow their growth a little when flowering but they recover rapidly.

If in doubt, cut it off; otherwise, good luck! =]

Drosera's usually flower only if they're being cared for properly, so their fine.
Pinguiculas, i'm not sure about, but i've got one flower already, and 4 more coming, so as Grey said "If in doubt, cut it off"
