Don't have a hygrometer for measuring the amount of relative humidity in the air for your plants ? Make a sling psychrometer using 2 centigrade thermometers. You need :
- 2 centigrade thermometers, a tape, a rubber band and a piece of small wood.
Tape the 2 thermometers and put them on a piece of plain small wood close to each other. With a rubber band tie a cotton piece, soaked with water that stayed at the room temperature, around the bulb of 1 thermometer. Shake them for about 10 seconds in the air or blow a vent into them.To find out the % relative humidity get the difference between the dry thermometer and the wet one. For example, if the dry one is 24 C and the wet one is 18 C, the difference between them is 6 % relative humidity. In the table find what number is at the intersection of dry bulb temp. and the difference (Dry bulb temperature minus wet bulb temperature). In our case is 56 % relative humidity.
The link to the table is below, as i don't want to upset the admin and Nasa.
