I've read posts about registering cultivars and people who agree with it dont agree with it etc. From what I gather it puts your name to having "discovered or created" it. This is not patenting, correct? I have noticed in other types of plants, not cps, that people have patented the cultivar and because of this you cannot tissue culture or do cuttings of them. Just wonder what people's thoughts are on this?

I think that patenting a plant is the most retarded thing invented. But if someone were to patent it, it would be very hard to sell, and I'm sure people would TC it anyways...
Even the cultivar system is flawed because if a plant fits under a description, it can be one, even if it's not genetically related :|

I don't agree with patenting a plant either. I see alot of patented plants on highcountrygardens.com I bought a plant called silene regia "prairie fire" a few years ago because it is more robust than the native but the idea that its patented does bother me a bit.
