FTC International News.

RADelaide (also known as Adelaide) held its annual "Festival of Flowers" event at Enfield hall on the weekend.

a measly $2 entry fee, good ol' aussie bbq, and plenty of good conversation between mate's.

what could be better.

The Orchid club of SA was there, so was Cottage Garden club, Cacti club, Pegonia's and a bunch of others i forgot.
If your interested in the above plants im sorry, your fresh outta luck. i didnt even take pics of em, i was there for the carnivores only !
Besides, this is a carnivore plant forum. if you want to see the awkwards (orchids) i'd suggest joining an orchid forum :P (only joking)

Australian Carnivorous Plant Society (ACPS) done quite well with many interested people, plenty of plants sold ranging from awesome Nep's, sarra's, fly traps, and Linton's free capensis for every kid which went better than expected :)
Even the Ping's were in such high demand they were being uprooted from the awesome tray display (see pics below) to satisfy demand

Ive got some pics of the ACPS crew doing their thing on the day, and our club's stall.
I especially liked the already established $5 nep cuttings that were in a bit of ag' pipe stuffed with sphag, what a great idea !

you know your at a plant show when someone carrying an expensive Begonia drops it, it shatters in about 5 bits. the guy, linton and myself stand there looking at a pile of broken plant bits on the ground, ohh crap...
the dude picks up most bits.

one of our members walks past on the way back from his car, picks up a left over twig "oh sounds like an expensive plant, i just got a cutting" haha

Great photos, great plants, wonderful event and really great topic (I wonder if there should be a dedicated section of the Forum just for worldwide news about carnivorous plants). Thanks so much for the report, Glenn (or is it just one "n"? Or did I "misremember" your name entirely, Oblivion?) :)

Anyway, it's great reading about this event and seeing all the pictures. I feel sorry for the guy who dropped the expensive plant. It's neat to know that you and Linton have been able to meet in person. Did you meet each other initially in this forum?

Australia sure does seem to have a lot going on. Interesting country.

Glenn, Glenny, Bliv, Obliv, whatever you like, just dont call me late for dinner :)

i met linton, john, and joined ACPS about a month after joining FTC.
All have had such a big impact on what ive learnt, and ive got probably 60% of my plants through ACPS members who bring in unwanted excess plants to give away.

i could never repay them since they already have all the good plants, so i try 'repay in kind' by giving my excess plants to family and friends who now have a couple of carnivore plants, even if they are just basic vft's, capensis, sarra's.

speaking of which, i have an ACPS meeting in about 4hrs time ! :)

i was going to post in ftc news and announcements but members cant start threads there.

maybe you can either allow members to post in there (which might require moderation to remove OT posts) or you could always just move any thread there that the mod's/admin feel is suited ?
