How long does it take to grow pichers on Nepenthes? Does it take too long? My nepenthes is 1 month old and still havent grown any pichers.

Btw, it's 1 month old since it was delivered to me.

There's a lot of factors that go into pitcher production, so it's hard to say. Light, humidity, and temperature are the major factors and requirements vary by species. It can take some plants quite a while to adjust and start producing pitchers again after being purchased/moved as well. I've also noticed with one of my plants that it did not like to pitcher while vining.

Can you provide more information about the conditions and the particular species/hybrid you bought?

It's a N. Ventricosa and I live in a tropical country. Morning temp ranges from 28-35°C and evening goes 22-26°C.

I'm certainly no expert on Nepenthes, but my first guess would be that the temperature is too high. The plant could still be adjusting though, it can take a while.

You should be able to grow lowland species very easily there, but but intermediate and highland species are going to be tricky.

It is very posible that the coir will give yellow mushrooms on the long run.

Indeed very tricky. I think 1 month is too early for a bloom.

Will it affect the plant?

I read that there is a big Nepenthes nursery in southeast Asia somewhere that grows all their Nepenthes in coconut coir. I don't know if they use pure coir or mix other ingredients in - I know it's generally recommended to have good draining in a Nepenthes mix.

So they will grow in it but you want to make sure you have high quality coir, preferrably grown away from the ocean.

It will not afect the plant, but it will smell like decayed mushrooms. That will happen if you will not rinse and wash the coir propely.
