Hello Guys,

I know that carnivorous plants take a while to reach the mature "adult" age, e.g VFTs would take 4-7 years.

Does anybody can advise who many "years - months" does it take the

Benurmanii wrote:Really depends on the species. A lot of variety within those genera. Also depends on how much you feed (not sure how this affects vegetative vs sexual maturity, however).

let's talk about the average, I'm a beginner and want to start with pings, however, I will be starting from seeds, IDK how much would it take me to see the results

I sowed a lot of Mexican Ping seeds in Feb or so, and I have smallish-medium sized plants now. One it actually throwing up a bloom but none of the others are yet. Still, judging from its parents — agnata and laueana — it will likely double in size by this time next year. But that’s me; someone with warmer conditions than I had during a lot of that time might have considerably larger plants by now.

Regarding growing from seed, it depends on how viable the seeds are and which species as benurmanii mentioned above.

Also germination from seed is quite variable between growers. Where one grower sees germination in a week, another may not see germination for over a month. Depends on the "conditions" you can provide

Also, if you can, it's best to start out with live plants. Usually, fully grown or adolescent plants are a bit more forgiving that seedlings, and you have more room for error. Also, you have something to see every day besides dirt and a few green specks! :)
