Sooooo.....in 2016 I successfully pollinated my P. Sethos, and had a bit of seed. I then put them in the fridge, where they've been for 4 years....fast forward to almost 2 weeks ago, and I decided to try and germinate them. Well guess what I see today?! 😲😲😲 The little cups have been sealed in the plastic baggie with just a hole for air, and a little water in the bottom. Guess it was the right conditions lol....they're so tiny lol....how do I feed them lol??

Personally, I wouldn't feed em. It looks like the mix has enough minerals for growth. Try watering with tap water, if anything. I keep distilled water for good species, my Mexicans get tap water as they are tolerant of high TDS. (My water could be used on other things as it's about 55ppm).

The seeds will take a long while to grow. I remember naively starting my ping collection from seed and some of the SG crosses I have are only the size of a dime right now. If you want a quick way to generate hybrids like x Sethos, you can just take pulls. I'm not sure what the seeds will look like or if x Sethos can pass on its traits sexually.

That said, just provide humidity.

Good luck and happy growing!

Yeah, me too, normally pings expire fast. I think that the best part of seeds is you can select for different things, maybe even make a cultivar.

Was that x Sethos x self? Since Sethos is a hybrid, I would have to assume that the offspring are not properly X Sethos. You might well see something interesting from some of the offspring. Good growing!

It was just plain P. Sethos I think lol. I pollinated it with the toothpick method lol 🤣🤣 I knew it was successful when the ovary started swelling up! I was like yaaaaaay!!! But dang, it was a tedious process lol 🤣

these babies sure are growing quick! Some are getting in their second set of leaves, and you can see the sticky dew on some of them without using a magnifying glass! I guess I can't call them P. Sethos cause they're from seed, so what do I call them? Lol

Agreed. Formally: Pinguicula X 'Sethos' x Self

Regarding feeding, I do not feed my ping seedlings anything until they get large enough that I can see the dew so I know they are hungry. Typically that is when they are 1/4 to 1/2".

Congrats!!!
