Red dragon flytrap

Care conditions: full sunlight, moist soil, trap method, water doesn’t climb to top for some reason, mostly red, average-fast growing.

Recovered from mutilation

Stop moving them.

To get the media fully moist you can put them in a tray of water and at the same time water from the top.

I do that every once in awhile.

Because your using a dark media and a black pot they are going to dry out extremely fast.

My red dragon came in that pot, and I don’t want to disturb it

They are fussy for repotting

What if it’s raining? I’ll have to put them in the porch so they don’t get waterlogged and then get root rot (I don’t want to start another war) but I’ll try to move them as little as possible, I’ll only move them in case it’s raining or for inside dormancy (I live in zone 7)

Let's test that logic.

In the wild, how do flytraps not die from root rot when no one moves them out of the rain?

Do your pots not have drain holes?

Being in zone 7 means you can grow your plants outside year round without ever moving them.

My pots do have drainage holes, but it snows every year where I live, and I can’t build a bog garden because I’m not allowed to,

My plants will not survive in their pots

I’m not trying to start a fight here,

On the The coldest day of the year where I live it’s 32 Fahrenheit and it snows, I’m pretty sure flytraps hate snow, but will tolerate it

Do my plants look sickly or unhealthy, I have gotten a ton of backlash on YouTube

Everyone is telling my I’m killing my plants because I give them too little water,

I try to give them the right amount of water, but guessing from just looking and touching the soil and not using a moisture meter, I’m likely to get it wrong
