I got an orchid from my grocery store for US$0.25 and it had no flowers so they cut the flower stalks, only problem is they cut it only a few inches away from the crown, will they be fine?

PHALAENOPSIS are strong plants they can take a lot of punishment. Cutting the flower stalk right down so theirs about an inch left is normal after flowering. I normally wait to trim as you often can get a second bloom.
