That looks like a fungus gnat. A way to get rid of them it to replant your plant, and wash its roots thoroughly so you dont have any larvae left when you put it into the new soil. There is mosquito dunk you can put in the water that kills them.. I just replant whenever I get them. But I only get them in venus flytraps from rocket nursery...

Okay thanks, I've only seen two so far. These plants are still acclimating to their new environment so I don't really want to repot them yet. It doesn't look like the type of fungus gnat that can harm a plant's root system right?

Maybe some kind of flea beetle, but it's shape is different from those I've seen.

just an update on my multiple pest situation:

I did a foliar spray of neem oil mixed with water in a spray bottle every 3 days for 2 weeks and it has been about 4 weeks since I first started treatment. The results are great ! all my plants have extremely healthy looking new growth and all I ever see is the occasional fungus gnat. My Nepenthes that was infested with aphids is also pest free now. I treated him with a complete submerging of ginger water as well as the neem oil foliar spray and he has definitely came back strong !

Spotted a worm in the soil of a new plant I got today. The head was pointy and reminded me of the shape of a nematode. Can anybody ID it and is it beneficial or not?

I noticed a few of my VFT seedlings dying off, as I looked a little closer I seen these very small bugs. Can someone identify them. They are black with two white dots on the thorax area. It appears to be beetle like.

It looks like it actually has 4 white spots, doesn't it? Regardless, I don't know what it is.

Looks like some sort of Flea Beetle to me. They eat leaves and skeletonize them.

One thing that works for aphids (at least for most sundews) is to put them in a cup of water, completely submerged. The aphids will drown. Leave it there for a few days and boom. Problem solved.

I suspect I may have spider mites. Haven't seen them on the plants but I see what I believe are spider mites around the yard from time to time. Can anyone tell me if this looks like spider mite damage and if neem oil is in fact good for treating them? Though all my plants have a good amount of new growth, I have experienced some baby traps turning black for months, and now I'm noticing this spotting and notching in addition. Some traps also seem to have trouble forming teeth, they'll turn black as the trap is forming.
