Hope all's well on your end, Orit! I saw a recent post of yours stating some plants of yours aren't doing too hot. I'm sure their rhizomes are keeping them good to go come Spring!

D. scorpioides update... Well, most sprouted. Actually, 8 of them went and continued to grow a few cm. But no carnivorous leaves have emerged/ actually developed yet. Then two days ago I dropped my "better" pot with 4 nice little babies. I had another with just one so I placed them in there. Maybe they aren't as delicate as everyone says! I will soon find out. Haha.

How're your pygmies?!

Hi, Mawy! My 3 pygmies are doing great! Many of my plants have been suffering, though, as mentioned, and it's been mostly due to neglect... and that neglect is mostly due to pregnancy brain and the sheer exhaustion of growing a human. It's been hard enough just keeping them alive now and I'm afraid how they will fare after the baby arrives. I know that despite best intentions, everything goes out the window with a newborn. That's really the reason I haven't been online much. Found out a few months ago and my world changed in that instant.

some of my baby pots recently did a nose dive off my window as well. we'll see what survives that, though it shouldn't be too bad. Did your pygmies make it okay?

I finally took the time to really examine my outdoor VFTs other than basically opening the cooler lid most mornings, closing it most nights, and occasionally putting a hot water bottle in there if the temp drops really low and i actually remember. Several of the dead leaves were covered with mold, which i cut off. the plants have shrunk severely, not only due to dormancy, but being left outside (though in that cooler) for nearly every day and night of the colorado winter, and that I neglected watering too long at least once. Between that and the fungus gnats earlier in the season, which I've finally controlled with mosquito dunks, many divisions have died, but I think every plant is still alive and some even look pretty decent with the dead leaves trimmed. overall, though, I'm largely impressed with how well a simple but large styrofoam cooler has protected them, and it was the only practical solution I had that allows them to get any sun.

Congratulations! I hope your pregnancy has been going well otherwise! Totally understandable that you've stepped away, it isn't easy being a portal from one dimension into this one. ;D

I'm glad to hear those 3 pygmies are holding up! As for mine, they are alive! I was surprised that they didn't even slump after the mishap. They're a little more tough than we like to give them credit for. They literally fell from 4 feet into a mess of media on the ground. Let's hope they develop enough to make their own gemmae tho! Then I can spread to love. As of last week, a couple carni leaves have emerged. Woo! So cute and tiny.

Sounds like they took a slight beating this past winter with everything, hopefully your plants bounce back once it heats up. The sun does some wonderful things. They'll be in full vengeance eating all the bugs possible. It's funny how these plants like to trick us thinking they're gone when in fact they're just hiding! Wicked to hear that your Styrofoam cooler ended up working out some too! I remember your initial posting about it, glad to see it does for when I move to Colorado myself. HEHE. Now you have more information to play with for next dormancy.

For now, time to enjoy growing season! I know I will especially since this is my first post dormancy/ first actual spring with CPs since I started last June. Blah, I talk too much.
