Calling all of y’all out there that have established (2+ years old) bogs/large mini-bogs or established sphagnum cultures grown outdoors. I have an opportunity to grow some of my favorite companion plants I’d like to share with you. Post a picture/s of your setup and I’ll get with you about the details. So let’s see those great pictures.

I grow orchids(see my growlist) so these intrigue me, but I have no bogs currently and I'm in WI so I'd have to bring them in anyways...

A little clarification is in order I suppose. By established I mean a bog that has been growing undisturbed for two seasons. I have seeds of both of these species available. For reliable germination on the C. tuberosus (second picture) you will need to have an established peat based bog or an established sphagnum culture that is subjected to the elements outside. Size isn’t really a huge factor but these will take 5+ years to reach maturity so a small bog will likely be overrun with the existing plants before these have a chance to get that old. The P. chapmanii (first picture) is not in cultivation that I am aware of outside of a research project being conducted by a professor here in Texas. I’m really looking for someone with some experience growing terrestrial “bog” orchids to experiment with some of these seeds. I have distributed some to a few very experienced growers around the country and we are trying to get this into cultivation. I have a small amount left and would like to get them into the hands of others to give us a better chance of finding out what conditions these may germinate best in, but again, some basic conditions must be met for me to consider you as a candidate.

It's a little embarrassing but I lost my phone with all my pictures. The only pic I have is old and from when I was setting it up. You can see the size of it. It's about 3' across.

Here is an image of my bog garden. I planted It right about a year ago. Currently it is under lights in the garage but when the weather warms it will return outside to four hours of direct sunlight.

Not entering the giveaway. Just sharing my mini 2 year month old yogurt-cup bog garden.

I added a little B52 F2 from TC, some seedling drosera (capensis, filiformis, and aliciae), utricularia cornuta, and a few sphagnum heads. Obviously, i'll need to repot everything eventually, but this was just a little experiment to see what would take off. Apparently, the capensis is taking an early lead.
