Just found this on my truncata. What could have caused this? Did notice this on Ventrata also.

Looks like something bit your truncata... Time for a pest stakeout?

Oh thought I should mention this, I did find what looked to be a spider mites on one of my plants earlier today also.

The brown spots look to be water damage or something like that. The other definitelylooks lime something is munching on the leaves. Dig around in the sphagnum around the plant and see if you find a caterpillar.

Couldn’t find anything under the surface. How deep do caterpillars usually dig? Should I do a slip pot?

Better it bite off a bit of leaf than the tendril. It was probably a snail or Caterpillar

Grab a flashlight and check the pot an hour or two after lights out. Some of the nasty critters are nocturnal.

Something big enough to do that may not hang around. However, on the off chance it is, you can put that pot in a bigger container and fill it with water to the level of the media and let it soak for an hour. If something is camping out, that should force it up and out.
Neps don't like sitting in water, so I wouldn't soak it for more than a couple of hours, but that might make it reveal itself.

Okay, it’s submerged to soil level. I’ll probably do this with all my neps except the most delicate ones. I’ll also come back tonight and see if the culprit has come back to the scene of the crime. Any way to prevent this from happening again?

Not really, it's a risk we take by keeping these plants. I'd say you could probably keep them inside, but I've had critters find their way in to snack on them there.

Y'know for a title of a thread like this I was thinking your whole collection got blown up or something.

To be honest I thought their was a really bad accident on your carpet until I didn’t see “BAD DOG!!!…BAD DOG!!!” at the end of the title.

I thought something threw your entire collection on your floor until I see some leaf burn or water damage and possibly caterpillars lol.

Had this happening to my black miracle and it turned out to be a type of weevil. Check around because it could be something simple like a caterpillar
