Howdy all!
First off, this has been the single best source of usefull information I have come across in my year of flytrap care. THANKS TO ALL!
I've got 2 VFT's from 2 dormant Lowes kits. They come with a VFT and a pitcher, but sadly my pitchers never took off. The first pitcher grew nice and green for about a week, then turned brown from the tip and just evaporated away. I chalked that up to planting during the 100*+ summer of central Tx. The second never did anything, and I'm assuming is decomposing in the soil.
I seperated some traps as it was becoming crowded and want to gift
the aditional plant, assuming I didn't kill it. Recently moved, so my babies no longer have direct sun and I'm using a grow light out side to help them along.
Currently allowing them to adjust to the new setup and hoping I haven't made too many changes too fast. Time will tell.
Thanks for all the posts, pics, and information!
The little one is from this spring, and the larger 2 are the year old that I seperated.

Welcome here! What part of central TX are you from?
I can tell you that we’re in a pretty good climate for growing many of the carnivores from the Southeastern US here.
I hope you have luck with your new setup!

I have the same problem with the pitcher plant from that kit. It just turned brown on the end and is slowly moving down the plant.

I'm in Austin, still figuring thing out as I go.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hade issues with the pitchers.
In that pic the meduim is Sphagnum moss with peat as a top layer, and sand that was added in to fill low spots where mosquito larvae were thriving.

Seeds received. Thanks Chef and donors!

Counting to infinity.
