Hey everyone,
I have an odd deformity on one of my Nepenthes. It is N. ventricosa x ramispina. I have had the plant for about 3 years and it has two growth points. A couple months ago it put out an odd leaf that didn't have a pitcher node at the tip. When it opened, it had this odd cupped look to it. The new leaf it revealed when it opened looked normal and the plant continued to grow and pitcher from both growth points. Then a couple weeks ago it did something similar on the other growth point, and now again on the first growth point. Also the most recent growth on a relatively new N. truncata x(truncata x ephippiata) has something similar going on now. The node is almost nonexistent and the subsequent leaf looks like it has been cut off. It's tough to get good pictures without digging out a bunch of plants so hopefully someone will be able to ID the issue with these pictures. The plants look healthy otherwise and are continuing to pitcher. There have been some pretty drastic humidity fluctuations recently compared to usual, although there are some much fussier plants exposed to the same fluctuations without any evidence of issue. The only other thing that has changed is I switched from buying distilled water to an RO DI water maker, however the first occurrence was before that change.
Ok, here's the pictures.
N. ventricosa x ramispina - notice the cupped leaf. Then there is a normal leaf out of frame, then another odd leaf.
The second growth point
The whole plant
N. truncata x (truncata x ephippiata)
So... anyone seen something like this before?
Thanks in advance,
-@.
