Hi
I want to present you my new acquisition. I decided to try this type nepenthe. For me this is a new challenge and hope to succeed .... who knows.
I ordered it from here.http://www.czplants.com/prodej.php?sid= ... mer=&od=41 This plant came to me for four days wrapped in damp paper only bare roots !
However, this plant surprised me! It has very long roots :). I prefer to put it in a pot only in live sphagnum moss.

Thanks John I'll do my best!

Bombsboy,
Yes, that is true they have a large selection of plants. They import their plants from Borneo exotics nursery - Sri Lanka . CZ plants are distributors for Europe. Many people who have bought from there they recommended it to me hot and I do not regret. Good thing there is no minimum order.Anyway for orders to € 100, delivery costs € 8. My medium size plant cost €13 + €8 for the supply of EU countries, a total of €21. They deliver in worldwide. Is this enough? I hope this help.
Just view this site. There is everything described.
Cheers,
D

Hello,
If I may add some advice here, I would Highly recommend you place that plant in a large pot with a more airy media. Rajah will root rot very quickly, and hates to be repotted. Trust me on this I have gone through 3. My fourth one is doing very well now in it's new media of:

3 parts perlite
3 parts western cedar mulch
1 part peat
3 parts pine bark

Here is mine about six months ago.

Good luck with yours

Hi Daren,
thank you for the recommendations I appreciate them, but what do you mean with "I have gone through 3"?
You mean that the 3 neps rajah where potted in live sphagnum and died?
Cheers, Dimitar

Yes i have had 3 of them die due to not enough air to the roots. I had them in chopped sphagnum. They all got root rot and died. I then contacted a few people on another forum that have grown rajah for years, and was told to place them in a bigger pot for rajahs huge root system and give it a more airy media an water less. I have done this an now my rajah is happy as can be.

Thanks Daren.
I would grow this plant for the first time and I don't know much about it. Maybe I should first try to N. burbidgeae and then try to N. Rajah. If I have problems with burbidgeae, I'll have a lot of problems with rajah. However, what are yours grow conditions?
Cheers,
D.

80's during the day and 60's at night. Humidity is almost 100% .
as for you burb well it makes me laugh when they say if you can grow a burb you can grow a rajah. Well my burb is sitting out side in full sun and our temps have been in the 100's with heat index of 110° a rajah wouldnt last that long. So i think its a bit miss leading on the discription........lol

root rot will display different signs in your plant as it suggest it roots from the roots up one sign is the blackening of the main stem from the root ball up it rots from the inside out which can all so happen from the top as well same symptoms !! ,usually very hard to detect before it's too late , root rot takes time to develop but once it starts all most imposable to stop , I have stopped it in Helamphora before but separating the affected part from the main body and using fungicide , that worked but on nep's hhmmm its just so hard to detect , best to have the plant in very good drainage, and no standing water and good ventilation helps a tremendous amount , ,since changing to free draining pots i have had no root rot at all ! tough wood !!

My biggest rajah experiences temps up to 95F in the summer with humidity down to 50%, at night it drops down to the low 60'sF with humidity going above 70%. In the winter it gets more suitable conditions, humidity always above 70% in the day and at night reaching 100% with temps in the day around 70F and at night going into the 40'sF. It is only 12 inches in diameter but i have it potted in a pot that is 16 inches in diameter and 12 inches deep. I repotted it 2 times before deciding to put it in a pot that was way to big for it. From my experience it took a couple of months for it to settle down and start growing again after repotting. Next time you repot it, try and use a pot thats bigger than the plant. At some point the plant will grow into it. Also, the wider the pot, the more gravity helps pull extra water from the soil, this helps avoid root rot. This came from another grower. At first I thought he was nuts, but it seems to be doing the trick. I use long fiber sphagnum for all my rajah and the only one I have lost was the one that I let dry out. I only water it 1-2 times a week and it continues to grow. I leave the sphagnum moss whole because I have noticed that when I cut it up, it tends to stay wet longer, and brakes down faster. Live sphagnum also works really well, but you have to water a little less. Just make sure to never let it dry out completely. Hope this helps. It's a bit long, i know.
