Mars Hydro 300W

I’m interested in upgrading my lighting and I’ve heard that Mars hydro 300Ws are great for growing carnivorous plants. I like the pricing and the look of full Spectrum light but I have a few questions. First, how high do I place the lights? I’ve read on this forum that some growers have them 18-20 inches above their plants, is this correct? Secondly, will this light work for nepenthes and Drosera growing under the same light with the light at the same height? (Provided that the larger plants aren’t shading or crowding out the smaller ones). And lastly how much growing area will one light cover? If any of you have a grow set up with mars hydros I’d love to see pictures too! Thanks so much!

I have one of those and love it. Mine is around 15 inches above my plants. You can grow dews and Neps under it just make sure the Neps can take string lighting. If not you can place them off to the side where it’s not as bright. I have a 22”x22” area illuminated with mine.

Here's an old shot of my 4' X 6' indoor grow shelf.

There are 2 MarsHydro 300s at the top and the next shelf is 24 inches lower.

Sorry to be off topic, but Mike do you have issues with heat using those tanks?

I have the rack covered with foil insulated bubble wrap.

It does allow heat to build up if left in place.

I remove half of it during Summer.

Hi guys. I am receiving my Marshydro 300w for my seedlings. Does the 18-24 inch from plants recommendation also work for seeds/seedlings?

Many thanks!
