Yes, the Sunshine Systems GlowPanel 45's do work well. I still like them too, and they seem to grow plants as well as the LED Grow-Master LGM 540's that I also use, but which are much more expensive.

These LED lights are great for gently acclimating recently deflasked tissue-culture plants, and for growing during the winter when other plants are in dormancy, getting an early start on the next season with seedlings or tissue-culture babies.

So if I'm reading right, most people are using the GlowPanels only under the 2.25 sqft footprint of the light with either a single unit very close to the plants or with 3 to a shelf (3 GlowPanel 45's on a 4'x1.5' shelf, the shelf is 6sqft, so each light is only covering 2 sqft).

Any comments on how well a single GlowPanel 45 would do covering the 5sqft the manufacturer claims?

You could get alot more than 5 sqft., with enough height, but the light dispersion would be too much. I think They are mentioning 5ft. as the outside effective light concentration for most plants, I believe.

The height required for 5 sqft, IMO, is a slight stretch for VFT'S. VFT'S require alot of light! With alot of other varieties of houseplants or some Pings, etc., You would probably get away with it having the unit up high enough to cover that much area. I keep mine approx. 16 to 18 inches away from the crowns, give or take. I don't know the square footage of that. I have three units in a row on a bakers rack and that is good for 4 10x20 trays.

I have to admit its tempting, but for now I don't need enough light to substitute from the sun until I get many more plants . My t5 seems to cover a good area with great growth, rate dew production, one downside seems to be getting good coloration. Tin foil goes along way with concentrating and not diluting the light. But still a concentrated stream of light is tempting .

I agree with you completely, i haven't follow this a lot, and just read 2 pages, and i'm amazed!

Different than you, i will have to find something quick because i can't keep my plants outside in that temporary greenhouse outside, they will all freeze completely and die(but of course i will be moving, but still i will need to keep tropicals and subtropicals inside, and also temperate), i will see how it will go because they are in a small pot all of them, if i struggle a lot thi year with them, i'm thinking of either putting all of them(temperates) in a large big pot so that i can leave them outside. Or putting all of them in styrofoam cups, grow them outside, and the winter inside under lights.
I have a few more plants to spend $ on, and once i have them, my growlist will be stopped completely until next spring for a new growing season!

This lights are quiet expensive, but i'll see what i can do, i also need grow racks(which are 150 at sams), i shouldn't be worrying about that now, but i'm afraid if i don't solve anything now, then there's not a future because the present is your future!

I certainly don't have anything negative to say about them. I've had mine for about a year now; no complaints. Very easy on plants of all kinds.

I've had my Sunshine Systems GlowPanel 45's for almost as long as goldslinger, and the plants under them have been growing well, so I recommend them too. One of the panels has 3 LED's (in a row) that occasionally flicker or stay off for awhile, but that is the only negative issue I've had with them; the plants seem to like them.

I saw on the web that LED system was not advice for plant but rather for a plant cutting.

Finaly, you use for plants and all is ok?!?

WOW! I wish I could afford nice LED panels like that. ... I'll just have to wait 10 years till they're as cheap as florescent bulbs.

Hey guys Ive been looking/searching/researching quite a bit about LED's and have yet still come to a conclusion about them. So I wanted to get some more opinions about a future investment.

Ive read a lot of about the GlowPanel 45 LED grow light and seen pretty good reviews about it on here but I also noticed that most people haven't really experimented with any other so far so I wanted to maybe get an opinion about this one:http://www.blackstarled.com/219.html or this one aswell just much more expensivehttp://www.urbansunshine.com/AgroLED-T5-Combo-44 and you have to buy bulbs separate but means its replaceable aka better?

Its a little bit more expensive but for how much stronger it is it seems to be worth it? I am still really new to the LED lighting system but I plan on purchasing that blackstar model 240w and compare/contrast with my current setup(dual t5 6500k 24w sunblazer 22 system) and even combine it with my current setup or some sort of combination.
